There are only 2 weeks to go in the MoneyLife Personal Finance Study! Finish strong.
Session 5 is all about work and how God views vocation.
I Timothy 5:8 says “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”
In II Thessalonians 3:10 we read “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
Clearly it is good, proper, and necessary to work. But let us not forget that there is also work to be done for the kingdom. Please consider the following verses referencing the Judgement Seat of Christ:
I Corinthians 3:11-15
11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
This passage speaks about those who have accepted Christ as savior by grace through faith, when they have to stand before God. This does not speak to earning salvation through good works. Our works that we have done after we have been saved will fall into 2 categories when tried by fire; those that are worthless and those that will be rewarded. Let encourage others to strive to be “always abounding in the work of the Lord” (I Cor 15:58)!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
