The lesson for week 3 is all about Ditching Debt, and Labor Day weekend reminds me of some Biblical truths:
We are all sinners that “come short of the glory of God”. Romans 3:23.
We deserve “death” and an eternity in hell because of our sins. Romans 6:23.
Our sin separates us from a thrice holy God. We have a sin debt that we are incapable of ditching.
But God loved us so much that “he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. John 3:16.
Romans 5:8 says “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.
Ephesians 2:8 says “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”. We cannot labor, or work our way, into heaven.
The only person who can ditch our sin debt is the Lord Jesus Christ. He paid the price for us with his shed blood on Calvary. All we have to do is believe that Jesus is the Son of God and can save us from our sins (John 20:31, Acts 8:37, I John 1:7), repent (Acts 20:21, Luke 24:47), confess (Romans 10:9-10, I John 1:9), and accept him as Savior.
I am glad to report today that I am 100% sin debt free! I am a sinner saved by grace.
Praise the Lord if you are also sin debt free. It’s the only debt that really matters.
As we reach the halfway point of this study, keep up the good work, and know that if Christ can save us from an insurmountable sin debt, he can provide all your needs.
